ISIS sends bomb threats to two leading hotels in Surabaya

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Two leading hotels in Surabaya received bomb threats from someone who claimed as members of the Islamic State of Iran and Syria (ISIS). The two hotels were JW Marriot Hotel at Jalan Embong Malang number 85 and Shangri La Hotel at Jalan MayJen Sungkono.

"At about 04:00 pm in the afternoon, the Gegana teams from East Java Police headed to the hotel to do five hours sweeping," Head of Criminal Unit of Surabaya Police, AKBP Takdir Metanete, confirmed, Monday (23/11).

Based on Republika.co.id direct observation, dozens of police personnel from East Java Police and Surabaya Police, were still securing and sweeping the JW Marriot Hotel and Shangri La Hotel, Monday (23/11) night.

It was known that the threats came from a man named Dani. He sent a fax of threats directed to the two hotels.

In the fax was written: "ISIS has spread in East Java. Beware, tonight Shangri La Hotel and the JW Marriot Hotel Surabaya will be blown up. It has been placed bombs on several floors with a detonator that will be activated simultaneously with cellular phone. Our goal is to kill foreigners, especially from the United States which has killed many Muslims. Long life ISIS!!! Wassalam: Dani. 082317244314 - 083830243613"
