REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian senior artist, Christine Hakim, was awarded 'The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette', from the Embassy of Japan to Indonesia. Christine was assessed to have important role in improving relations between Indonesia and Japan, especially in culture.

Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Yasuaki Tanizaki, said relationship between Christine Hakim and Japan has existed for long time. Movies that she starred also had been introduced to the Japanese public since 1982.

In the same year, Christine also be a guest in the event of Japan Foundation South East Asia Film Festival. At that time, she met a number of prominent Japanese films, from director to critics, which eventually became comrades in developing the film industry in Indonesia, Japan, and even Asia.

Additionally, Christine had also been producing two movies with Japanese artists and directors. One title was Nemuro Otoko.Tanizaki was deeply impressed with some of the movies of Christine Hakim.

"She's an incredible artist," he said, in South Jakarta, Wednesday (18/11).

Tanizaki hoped Christine still played a role in increasing the relationship of Indonesia and Japan, particularly the field of culture. He thanked Christine for her contribution to strengthen relations with Japan.
