Obama acknowledges JK as a peace maker

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- US President, Barrack Obama, said that he knew Vice President Jusuf Kalla as a peace maker. This was disclosed by Obama when meeting JK and President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.

Their conversation took place while the three were in leisure time in the meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in Manila, Philippines. At that time, President Santos introduced JK to Obama. According to Santos, JK was known to have expertise in reconciliation.

"Vice President talked briefly between President Obama and President Santos. Then President Santos said to Obama: "Hi, here is the Vice President of Indonesia, he was very expertise in peace making"," said Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, in Manila, Philippines, Wednesday (18/11).

Obama also responded and claimed to have known JK for long time. According to Obama, JK was indeed often perform a variety of activities to create peace in Indonesia

"Obama said, "Oh yes, I know that Vice President Jusuf Kalla was a lot of carry out activities for peace"," Retno added.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla was scheduled to attend the APEC Summit in Manila, Philippines, for four days, from 17th to 20th November. In International event, JK was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Trade Minister Thomas Lembong, and Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani.
