REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) has urged that every building in the capital city install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, following a Monday grenade explosion at a building in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.
"For a long time, we have urged every building to install CCTV cameras. By having one, everyone and every visitor could be monitored continuously," Ahok said here on Monday.
CCTV cameras could also help to anticipate criminal activities, he added.
Regarding the Duren Sawit incident, Ahok said that he hoped the Jakarta police would soon identify the perpetrator and determine the motive for the attack.
