Wonderful Indonesia Festival 2015 greets Melbourne

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia Wonderful tourism campaign was realized by a event titled 'Wonderful Indonesia Festival 2015', held at Queensbridge Square, Melbourne, Australia. At the festival, there were collaboration between traditional arts, popular musics, artists of both countries, culinary, and promotion of tourism.

 

Minister of Tourism of Indonesia, Arief Yahya, hoped the presence of this festival would be able to lure residents from Australia to visit tourist destinations in Indonesia.

"Branding of Wonderful Indonesia continue to be campaigned. The Australian Government also appreciate it,'' said Arief, Sunday (15/11).

Arief was deeply grateful to Consul General for Victoria and Tasmania, Dewi Wahab, also to Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, who also attended and gave a speech.

''Incidentally, in the middle of the event, Australian Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Robin David Scott, came to the location of the festival, and I asked permission to next year's event should be held again. He is enthusiastic and agreed,'' Arief added.

During his visit to Melbourne, Arief delivered three major things. First, he was promoting 10 leading Indonesian tourism destinations, such as Lake Toba (North Sumatra), the Thousand Islands (Jakarta), Bromo (East Java), Labuan Bajo (NTT), Mandalika (NTB), Borobudur (Central Java), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi), Tanjung Kelayang (Belitung), Tanjung Lesung (Banam), Morotai (North Maluku).

Secondly, Arief conveyed his wish for regeneration of tourists from Australia. He hoped, it will increasingly attract new tourists to explore Indonesia which has 17,000 islands, 726 local languages, and becomes center of coral reefs in the world, such as in Raja Ampat, Wakatobi, Labuan Bajo, Derawan, etc.

Thirdly, Arief explained destination in Indonesia was not only Bali which was already considered as a second home, for Australians. Bali should be a connection for other tourism destinations.
