Indonesia-Italy to cooperate in fashion industry

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia and Italy agreed to cooperate in fashion industry. The deal was made after President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Monday (9/11).

In the official press conference after the meeting, President Joko Widodo said, in addition to fashion industry, the two countries also agreed to increase cooperation in leather and furniture industries. The cooperation was made because Milan in Italy is famous as one of the world's fashion city.

"This is a great opportunity. So I convey to President Mattarella that I will devote one minister for affairs of Indonesia and Italy in economy, trade, and investment," said the President, Monday (9/11).

The Government noted, the trade value between Indonesia and Italy in 2014 reached 4.01 billion US dollars. While the Italian investment to Indonesia reached 63.02 million US dollars and Italian tourists to Indonesia reached 68 thousand people.

During his visit to Indonesia, Mattarella brought 30 business delegates who have achieved business deals of 1.055 US dollars.

In his official statement at the Presidential Palace, President Mattarella praised the diversity that exists in Indonesia. Mattarella appreciated Indonesian people who can live in harmony in amid of diversity of ethnicity, race and religion.

"Indonesian motto, Unity in Diversity, is an excellent example, given by Indonesia to the world," said Mattarella.
