REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI -- A world oil company, Royal Dutch Shell, officially launched the largest lubricant factory in Indonesia, Thursday (5/10). The factory located in Marunda Center, Bekasi, West Java, was built in area of 75 thousand square meters.
Executive Vice President of Shell Lubricants, Mark Gainsborough, said the building of new factory was proof of confidence of lubricant market in Indonesia. Indonesia was considered as the largest lubricant market in Southeast Asia and one of the driving engines of lubricant industry along with China and India.
"This factory represents lubricant production capabilities of Shell in Indonesia. The factory also helps us to meet the needs of Indonesian consumers," said Gainsborough, in Marunda Center, Bekasi, Thursday (5/11).
He continued, in recent years Indonesian economy grew rapidly. Lubricant became a vital component in realizing the economic growth in almost all sectors.
The factory was capable to produce up to 136 million liters (120 thousand tons) of lubricants, annually. This was sufficient to replace more than 460 thousand units of lubricant in motorcycles or nearly 90 thousand units of lubricant in cars, every day.
President Director and Country Chairman of Shell Indonesia, Darwin Silalahi, expressed his pride on the building of Shell lubricant factory in Indonesia.
"It is part of our commitment in implementing the strategy to be closer to our customers and to encourage business growth by offering the right products and services," said Darwin.
The new lubricant factory would produce Shell's superior lubricants brand, namely Shell Helix for passenger vehicle engine, Shell Advance for motorcycle, Shell Rimula for heavy grade engine, and Shell Spirax for transmission and industrial lubricants.
