REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian economy in the third quarter of 2015 grew by 4.73 percent. This growth was better than the second quarter of 2015 which only reached 4.67 percent.
"Cumulatively from January to September, Indonesian economy grew by 4.71 percent," said Deputy of Balance and Statistical Analysis of Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Kecuk Suhariyanto, Thursday (5/11).
Economic growth in the third quarter was supported by household consumption. Household consumption had contributed 2.67 percent to the growth, followed by gross fixed capital formation 2.67 percent and other expenses 1.47 percent.
"In third quarter of 2015, there were two Eid, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Hence, the consumption increased," Kecuk added.
However, household consumption was not expenditure with highest growth. The highest growth occurred in government consumption, which rose by 9.27 percent compared to the second quarter of 2015. While, household consumption rose only by 3.66 percent.
"Government consumption is the highest growth due to increased capital expenditures, expenditures for goods and personnel," he said.
