REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- Head of Meteorological Station Selaparang and Lombok International Airport, Catur Winarti, revealed that Selaparang Airport which was commonly used for flight school activities, was closed until 11:00 am local time. The reason was the direction of volcanic ashes from eruption of Mount Barujari led to southwestern area.

"This morning there was a notice, Selaparang Airport that usually used for Flight Schools was closed until eleven o'clock. The closure was done since morning, because the direction of ashes lead to the southwest " Catur said, Wednesday (4/11).

According to him, the possibility of volcanic ash of Mount Barujari led to Mataram, was small. It was because in Selaparang Airport, there was not any volcanic ashes.

"So far the ashes from eruption of Mount Barujari has reached a height of 1400 meters," he said.

Earlier, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Nusa Tenggara revealed that volcanic ashes from eruption of Mount Barujari could disrupt the aircraft's flight route from Bali to Lombok. Volcanic ashes were approaching the height of 10 thousand feet.

"Information from pilots, the dust is approaching 10 thousand feet and disrupted flights," said Head of BPBD of NTB, Azhar, in Mataram, Monday (2/11).

He said, the status of Mount Barujari was still alert. Even so, BPBD had prepared an evacuation scenario for people who lived around the mountain.
