REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOYOLALI -- Search and Rescue (SAR) Team of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Boyolali, Central Java, evacuated hundreds of climbers from Mount Merapi. It was caused by forest fires occurred in the peak of Mount Merapi.
Based on data from Barameru Post, the number of climbers who climbed to the top were 500 people. 300 of them had successfully came down and 200 people were still in the top.
"Rescue teams and volunteers continue to appeal for climbers to leave the summit of Mount Merapi," said Commander of SAR BPBDs Boyolali, Fajar Kurniawan Prasetyo, Monday (2/11).
To evacuate the climbers, the SAR teams deployed hundreds of personnel and volunteers, with an ambulance. A number of volunteers also began to come to New Selo to help evacuation process and extinguishing the fire.
As is known, after Mount Merbabu and Mount Lawu were burned, Mount Merapi experienced a similar disaster. The hotspot was known in Protected Forest in Sepi Village, Selo, Sunday (1/11) morning.
