REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Singapore was used as a main target in tourism promotion titled "Wonderful Indonesia". Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya, said that Singapore people have huge potential for Indonesian tourism.
"We are working hard to make Singapore as a major market in ASEAN with branding Wonderful Indonesia," said Arief, in a written statement received by Republika.co.id in Jakarta, Wednesday (28/10).
Arief revealed that in current data there are five million people who settled in Singapore. Of these, he said, there are around 1.5 million expatriate, namely non-Singapore who work and live there. Other facts, said the Minister, there are 15.1 million tourists who visited Singapore in 2014. It increased by 2 percent from the previous year.
"Well, since we attack Singapore with tourism promotion, number of visitors in Great Batam rose rapidly to 60 percent," he explained.
Great Batam which has been the main door of Singapore people, in 2014 only visited by 1,885,012 foreign tourists or 22 percent of the total tourists coming into Indonesia. For 2015, he projected to reach 2.5 million tourists visits.
So how to provide branding in Singapore? Arif said that he has put up logos of wonderful Indonesia in a number of strategic locations.
