REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo was on his way home from the United States (US) and was scheduled to land in Palembang, South Sumatra. Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung, said Jokowi planned to move his office to Palembang for a while in order to directly monitor the handling of smog.
"Most likely he will be based in Palembang, Sumatra, while monitoring the smog handling," said Pramono, at his office, Wednesday (28/10).
Palembang was chosen because the handling of smog was focused in that city. Palembang was observed to have the highest hotspots.
Pramono and a number of related ministers were scheduled to fly to Palembang before the President arrived. As for Jokowi, according to Pramono, would be landed in Palembang on Thursday (29/10) around 08.00 am.
"On the same day, he will soon have a meeting with the management team of smog handling," he added.
President Jokowi had decided to go home early. It was said that the President wanted to monitor directly the handling of smog in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
"I decided to cancel the trip to the West Coast," said the President as quoted by President Communications Team, Ari Dwipayana, Monday (26/10).
