REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANGPARIAMAN -- State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has recorded that some three thousand flights were affected over the last one month due to haze emanating from the forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan.

"The worst hit airports are in Jambi and Pekanbaru followed by Pontianak. Other affected airports include Padang and Palembang as well as Kualanamu in Medan," President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Budi Karya Sumadi said here, Tuesday.

The data on flight cancellations and delays were collected from September 1 to October 10, 2015.

He remarked that PT Angkasa Pura II would improve the lighting system and control tower communication at various airports to enable aircraft to land and take off despite the haze reducing visibility to a certain distance.
