REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANGPARIAMAN -- PT Angkasa Pura II as manager of airports in Indonesia, conveyed that the company suffered a loss of about Rp 30 billion in the last month. The loss was obtained due to smog that occurred in Sumatra and Kalimantan.

"It becomes challenge for us in the future to get more revenue," said President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Budi Karya Sumadi, in Padangpariaman, Tuesday (27/10).

He said it in Minangkabau International Airport in Padangpariaman after accompanying the Minister of SOEs, Rini Soemarno, in reviewing the condition of the airport and railway construction to the airport. According to him, airports that got greatest impact were Jambi, Pekanbaru and Pontianak, and also Palembang and Kualanamu.

Hoarding of aircraft passenger due to delayed and canceled of flight still happened. He said, AP II would still continue to educate public because that became a fact that was still going on in Indonesia.

"We will also maximize the airports that are still active, such as Padang, Palembang, Kualanamu, with better facilities," he added.

As for long-term, a research would be conducted to increase high probability for the flight to land in the areas that were covered by smog. For instance, after minimum visibility to land was 1,500 meters, AP II sought ways to make the visibility to land reduced to 1,000 meters.

He said, it could be done by improving communication system or by adding lights on the runway. Budi said minimum visibility for landing in each airports depends on each location.
