Sudirman Cup held in Bali, Malang, and Surabaya

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian tournament of Sudirman Cup Championship (ICJSC) or Sudirman Cup 2015 would be started on 10th November 2015, which coincides with the Day of Heroes. Chief of TNI, Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, said Sudirman Cup 2015 is a momentum of the rise of national football, which the first match would be held in Malang, Saturday (14/11).

"This good news certainly gives a new spirit and it is a positive step for national football. Hopefully, through this tournament, football life in this country can continue and is able to entertain all football lovers in Indonesia," Gatot said in Jakarta on Monday (26/10).

According to Gatot, initial round of this tournament would be held in three cities as hosts, namely Bali, Malang and Surabaya. Each group would be followed by five clubs as participants with round-robin match format.

Selection of Bali and Malang as  hosts was due to their good achievement as hosts of President's Cup 2015. While, Surabaya had chosen, because it was a City of Heroes and it reflected the spirit of military struggle.

"15 clubs who will compete in the tournament are Persija Jakarta, Persib Bandung, PSM Makassar, Arema Cronus, Bali United, Pelita Bandung Raya, Persela Lamongan, Mitra Kukar, Persipura Jayapura, Sriwijaya FC, Persegres Gresik, Pusamania Borneo FC, Bonek FC, and TNI Football Association," he explained.

The total prizes were Rp 5 billion. First winner earns Rp 2.5 billion, second winner earns Rp 1.5 billion, third and fourth winner earns Rp 500 million each.
