REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned former manpower and transmigration minister Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar on Friday as a witness in an alleged case of criminal offense at the directorate of transmigration area development.
"Iskandar is summoned as a witness in the case against JM," acting chief of the KPK's public relations bureau, Yuyuk Andriati, stated here on Friday.
However, by 11 a.m. local time, the politician of the Nation Awakening Party (PKB) had failed to show up. Iskandar held the post of manpower and transmigration minister from 2009 to 2014.
The case is related to the abuse of budget fund at the directorate from 2013 to 2014 and assistance fund in 2014.
JM has been held in KPK's custody in East Jakarta since September 10, 2015.
The anti-graft body named JM a suspect in the case on February 12, 2015. He is charged with violating Article 12, letters e and f and Article 23 of Law No. 13 of 1999, adjunct Article 20 of 2001 on corruption eradication and adjunct Article 421, adjunct Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code.
If found guilty, the suspect may be awarded a maximum jail term of 20 years and be fined up to Rp1 billion.
