REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Drug Investigation Division Team of North Sumatra Regional Police, found marijuana fields of about 5 hectares in Mandailing Natal.
Head of Public Relations of North Sumatra Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Helfi Assegaf in Medan, said the marijuana fields were in tor Sihite Hill, Rao-Rao Dolok Village, Tambangan District, Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra.
The team, which was led by Director of Drug Investigation Division of North Sumatra, Police Commissioner Pol Reinhard, was discovered marijuana fields on Tuesday (20/10) afternoon around 04:00 pm. After the discovery, the team of North Sumatra Police burned the evidence of marijuana
"The marijuana were were uprooted and burned," he added.
Forest conditions of the location of marijuana were covered with shrubs and still inhabited by venomous animals. However, North Sumatra Police had not been able to explain the ownership or parties who were responsible for the existence of the marijuana fields.
Previously, soldiers of Korem 02/Ocean Guard had also been discovered marijuana fields covering an area of 32 hectares in hilly area of East Panyabungan, Mandailing Natal, in May 2015.
