Revenue of financial services of UOB rises by 40 percent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - United Overseas Bank (UOB) recorded revenue of service unit of Financial Institutions Group (FIG) grew more than 40 percent within the first six months of 2015, compared to the same period in the previous year.

The increase was driven by the bank's efforts in meeting the needs of customers on finance, trade finance, cash management services, hedging, capital markets, and it was supported by an extensive network. Customer of FIG consisted of banks and non-bank financial service providers such as insurance, global funds, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds.

Global Head of FIG of UOB, Lim Lay Wah, said the partnership between the bank with clients of FIG help them in playing important role in economic growth in Asia. The growing of financial institutions was driven by increased of intraregional trade, demand for infrastructure development and the need for management of wealth among the middle class in Asia.

"Customers can take advantage of integrated network of FIG and a deep understanding by UOB in Asia to create opportunities," said Lim Lay Wah, in an official statement, Tuesday (13/10).

One form of collaboration of UOB was the cooperation with Indonesia Eximbank (IEB) - Export-Import Financing Institutions of Indonesia. UOB was one recipient of the mandate as lead arrangers, underwriters and bookrunners (MLABs) in syndicated loans worth 1 billion US dollars.

The loan was used by IEB in providing cross-border trade financing services. Currently, UOB also helped IEB to provide input and advice in liquidity management, treasury, and alternative funding solutions in capital markets.

Managing Director Indonesia Eximbank, Basuki Setyadjid, stated in such cooperation, he was expected the fund at the desired price level can be met and assist Indonesia Eximbank in diversifying funding sources.

"This is the second time we pointed UOB as one of our partners, based on the confidence in the professionalism and commitment of UOB," he said.
