REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- State-owned oil and gas company, Pertamina will build a gas power plant in Palu city, Central Sulawesi province.

The acting Mayor of Palu, Andi Mulhanan Tombolotutu, said on Thursday that the company will build a gas power plant in Palu.

According to him, in the near future, the Palu city administration together with Pertamina and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the steam power plant project.

He said Pertamina will supply gas through a subsea pipeline system taken from Bontang, East Kalimantan province.

Tombolotutu also noted that the gas will be used, not only for electricity, but also for industries located in the Special Economic Zone of Palu and to meet community needs.

Palu is a developing city, with a population of approximately 400 thousand people, and is currently working to improve development in all sectors.

"Palu will align with other developed cities in Indonesia if it has the infrastructure to support development programs. One is the availability of sufficient electrical energy," he said.

The city is located at the mouth of the Palu River. It is the capital of the province of Central Sulawesi, which is a long, narrow bay.
