REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- A total of 34 Indonesian hajj from Hong Kong survived in Mina incident, in Road 204, four days ago. Indonesian Consulate of Hong Kong confirmed that those 34 pilgrims were in a healthy condition.
"This good news was delivered by one of our consul who also was in the middle of pilgrimage with his families and colleagues from Hong Kong," said Consul General of Indonesian Consulate General of Hong Kong, Chalief Akbar, in Beijing, Tuesday (29/9).
Association of Indonesian Hajj (IKHJI) in Hong Kong dispatched 34 pilgrims from Hong Kong, in Hajj season of 2015. Of the 34 pilgrims, 14 of them were Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong.
On average, every year there were 30 to 35 Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong who were departed to Saudi Arabia to perform the pilgrimage. While, there were four Indonesian citizens who perform hajj this year from China and everyone was reported in a good condition.
From Mecca, Ministry of Religious Affairs requested the Government of Saudi Arabia to facilitate access for medical teams. So that it could speed up the process of identification of Indonesian pilgrims who became victims of Mina.
"We have made a diplomatic note that the medical team and doctors from Indonesia could see the bodies of victims," said Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, Monday (29/9).
