REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) donated a sacrificial animal in the form of a cow, weighing 1.3 tons, to Istiqlal Grand Mosque in Jakarta on the occasion of Idul Adha, or the Day of Sacrifice.
The cow was handed over by Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi after the Idul Adha prayer at the Istiqlal Mosque on Thursday.
"On behalf of the government, Pak Sofyan Djalil, Pak Amran Sulaiman, and I handed over this sacrificial animal from the president to the management of Istiqlal Mosque today," Chrisnandi remarked.
President Jokowi has also donated cows to some regions in Indonesia, such as Banjarmasin, Jambi, Padang, Solo, and Palu.
The president was present on Thursday in South Kalimantan to celebrate Idul Adha with the people in the province.
On Thursday morning, President Jokowi perform Idul Adha prayer at the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque in Martapura, South Kalimantan.
The Idul Adha prayer was led by KH Wildan Salmon, the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque's chief of Tahfizul Qur'an, while the sermon was delivered by KH Khalilurrahman.
President Jokowi was accompanied by Culture and Education Minister Anis Baswedan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, TNI Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, and National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, among others.
At the Al-Karomah Grand Mosque, President Jokowi also handed over a sacrificial animal in the form of a cow weighing 800 kilograms.
Thousands of people gathered at the largest mosque in Martapura to perform Idul Adha prayer along with the president and his entourage.
Minister/State Secretary Pratikno earlier stated that from South Kalimantan, President Jokowi would head to North Sumatra to observe the latest condition of Mount Sinabung, which last erupted on September 5, 2015.
