REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The governments of West Java Province in Indonesia and Adelaide city of South Australia will explore cooperation in six areas, an official has said.

These areas are: agriculture, health, education, tourism, trade promotion and facilitation.

"Actually, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the West Java and Adelaide city of South Australia has been in effect since 1997. However, due to various constraints such as the financial crisis, reforms and others, it was eventually delayed. Thank God that it is now being realized," Acting Governor of West Java Deddy Mizwar said here on Wednesday.

"The MoU between our (province) and Adelaide is related to the two becoming sister provinces. It will be signed when we reach there," he said.

As part of the serious efforts to clinch the MoU, Deddy Mizwar on Tuesday (Sept 22) left for South Australia, leading a delegation of the West Java province on a working visit to Adelaide.

Citing an example, Mizwar said one of the co-operation pacts is in the field of education. The two sides will have sister schools, scholarships, students' exchange and teachers' training.

"In addition, West Java has also been invited by Adelaide to participate in the cultural festival there," Mizwar added.
