REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The US central bank's policy, the Fed, to raise interest rates, was considered better to be done as soon as possible. It was because uncertainty of the raise of the interest rate was detrimental to Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Economy, Darmin Nasution, said the benchmark US interest rate increase was better ensured. By doing so, it would be better for Indonesia.

"With the certainty of US interest rate hike, the speculation will be completed," Darmin said, Thursday (17/9).

He considered, the blurring of investor funds were not to be feared. It was because the investments have come from Indonesia in recent months and still likely to happen again.

Nasution said the rate hike could not exactly be going to have a positive impact. However, the increase would create stability.

"So our exchange rate and our speculation pressure will be eased, so that the exchange rate moves to the fundamentals," he said.
