REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The potential of massive unemployment due to the economic slowdown, became serious attention of Minister of Rural Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Marwan Jafar. According to him, a concrete solution to overcome the impact of unemployment is to boost the development of rural infrastructure.

"Village budget should be used to build rural infrastructure, each village must carry out three to four projects of basic infrastructure such as rural roads, irrigation, sanitation, ponds, and so on," said Marwan in a press release received Republika.co.id, Sunday (20/9).

By September 2015, village budget that has been sent from the village center to the districts/municipalities reached Rp 16 trillion or 80 percent of the 2015 state budget allocation of Rp 20.7 trillion.

Infrastructure development in villages, will be absorbed a lot of people who will work on these projects. There will be also multiplier effect of the infrastructure development, such as material business opportunities to supply the material needs of the project, including culinary effort to meet the consumption needs of the workers of the project and other related business opportunities.

"I am confident with the movement of rural infrastructure projects, then the problem of unemployment and poverty in the villages that were previously reported, will be increased. The numbers will be reduced significantly, because they are going to work and have a decent income," said Marwan.
