Luhut Pandjaitan: Tolikara is safe

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinator for Political, Legal and Security (Kemenkopolhukam), Luhut Pandjaitan, said the situation in Tolikara, Papua, is safe, especially on Eid al-Adha in the last week of September 2015.

"Tolikara in a safe condition and everything is under control," he said, in Jakarta, Wednesday (16/9).

It was stated by Luhut to overcome people's worries about security problems in Tolikara, during the Eid al-Adha. The government through Kemenkopolhukam has been coordinated with all parties, including groups involved in the riots of Karubaga, Tolikara, in Eid Fitr celebration, some time ago.

Menkopolhukam declared that all parties were ready to maintain security and peace in Tolikara.

Related to the rehabilitation of the buildings that were destroyed after Eid Fitr riots, the government has provided funding construction of Rp 14.7 billion.

"The fund is still in process and will soon be used," said Luhut.

Previously, Luhut also has said that there will be no special security in Tolikara, Papua, during the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

"No need special safety because all is fine. I have met Tolikara's Moslem and Christian leaders and they promised to keep the peace," he added.
