REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik has met the general chairman of the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), Surya Paloh, to discuss cooperation in terms of investment, business and culture.
"Indonesia has economic potential, although the country's economic growth is slowing down," Moazzam Malik said here on Tuesday.
The ambassador underlined his optimism about the prospect of Indonesia's economy looking up in the near future.
In relation to economic development, the ambassador urged the government of Indonesia to expedite the regulatory system, improve infrastructure, and consider the logistics costs as part of the efforts to increase investment and economic growth.
Meanwhile, Paloh expected that bilateral relations between Indonesia and the UK can continue harmoniously.
"The expectation was welcomed by the British ambassador," he said.
The visit of the ambassador was aimed at understanding these expectations and Indonesia's goals.
"Political parties and its leaders play a very important role in creating the vision of the state," he said.
The British Ambassador is scheduled to meet leaders of other political parties in Indonesia.
