REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, Fadli Zon, denied a meeting with US businessmen who ran as a presidential candidate, Donald Trump, as a form of political support. Fadli Zon said the meeting with Trump was only to talk about investment.
"For networking, we met with Donald Trump," said Fadli Zon, during a press conference at the Parliament Complex, Monday (14/9).
According to Fadli Zon, Trump was a successful and well-known businessman. Besides that, he saw Trump was interested to invest in Indonesia, as he had done in Bali, Bogor and Sukabumi.
He explained, the Law not only stated that the Parliament has functions of budgeting, legislation, and controlling, but also diplomacy.
"Our job was to do Second Track Diplomacy and Multi-Track Diplomacy, because diplomacy is not only the duty of the government," he added.
He explained that Trump appreciated Indonesia as largest Moslem country in the world, but still remained moderate and democratic. His meeting with Trump was to discussed how to invest further in Indonesia.
