LRT will be integrated with Commuter Line

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), met Minister of Transportation, Ignasius Jonan, to discuss the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) project. It was a step to accelerate the construction of LRT which was targeted to be completed in three years.

Ahok planned to integrate LRT with Commuter Line Jabodetabek. That was to facilitate passengers to wear only one ticket.

"I hope that LRT and Commuter Line can be joined, so that we can use a single ticket," he said, at the Ministry of Transportation, Jalan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Friday (11/9).

Ahok said he did not think about the advantages and disadvantages of the LRT project. The project was run to resolve the problem of congestion in Jakarta.

"We do not want to have railway business. We want transportation problems in Jakarta is resolved," he added.

He targeted nine corridors in Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang and Depok can be completed within three years. Moreover, Jakarta will host the ASEAN Games in 2018.

In his meeting with Jonan, he gave advice that the auction of LRT can be equated. So, the train that will be used has the same type in all regions.
