REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The head of National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Commissioner General Pol Budi Waseso said that he would evaluate the performance of BNN and the methods of controlling drug, to determine more effective strategies in combating drugs abuse.
"We'll evaluate the overall performance. President said that the country in a state of drugs emergency. It means that we must take effective and efficient steps in tackling drug-related crime," said Budi Waseso at Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Monday (7/9).
He claimed to be studying the work programs that already exist. He also will take a decision regarding the continuation of the program. He said some programs will continue to run, while others will be revised.
He opened possibility to propose a revision of Law of Narcotics related to the rehabilitation of drug abusers.
"Law is a man-made, can be changed as well. The point is how law enforcement in combating drugs can be effective, efficient and successful," he added.
During the leadership of General Police Commissioner Anang Iskandar as the head of BNN, BNN was applying the concept of rehabilitation for drug abusers.
The rehabilitation concept was stated in Article 54 of Law
