Indonesia increased economic cooperation with Fiji

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, met Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kabuabola in the first meeting of Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC), Tuesday (1/9). This meeting aimed to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic field.

"Fiji is an important country in the Pacific for Indonesia in economic and security cooperation," said Retno, Tuesday (1/9)

Both countries agreed to enhance economic cooperation by encouraging cooperation intensification of business to business. The cooperation will be conducted for products that can be potentially developed, such as mild steel, agricultural and fishing tools.

Indonesia gave permission for Fiji to export goods to Indonesia, specially products that are related to fishery and agriculture. Retno hoped the cooperation also can courage private sector to develop exports to Fiji.
