Go-Jek is creativity in business, Lagarde says

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- In general lecture at University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, talked about Go-Jek, that is currently popular in Jakarta. She said, that Go-Jek is an example of passion and creativity.

"This is an attempt to change something traditional into ‘something’ and then it can change everything," said Lagarde in front of UI students, in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9).

According to her, transportation in Jakarta is a simple business, utilizing goods and services, and connecting people. She added that entrepreneurship is a reflection of an inclusive financial system.

The community's access to credit, is the key to the economic opportunities and the results of economic activity. Lagarde said that currently two-thirds of Indonesian people have not had access to banking, even half of them does not have any savings.
