REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- 14 national figures received an award from UNESCO. The award was given through the Ministry of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan as Chairman of the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO.
“The 14 figures were from four fields, namely education, culture, science and communication. They have committed to the nation," said Anies, in the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), Thursday (27/8).
The figures were witnesses on Indonesian development process from the past to the present. They have great contribution to Indonesia.
In the field of education, there were Daoed Joesoef, Conny R, R Semiawan, and Malik Fajar, who received the award. In science, there were Sangkot Marzuki, Indrawati Ganjar, Umar Anggara Jeni.
Meanwhile, in culture, there were Taufik Ismail, Edi Sedyawati, Haryono Haryoguritno, and Taufik Abdullah. Furthermore, Bagir Manan, Herawati Diah, Jakob Oetama, and Ing Wardiman Djojonegoro received award in the field of communication
