REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Election Commission (KPU) has set 765 regional leader candidates. The 765 candidates were from 257 regions as participants of local election 2015.

However, until Monday (24/8), around 20:40 pm, there were four areas that have not announced the results of pair of the candidates.

"The four areas are still doing plenum. Those are Karo, Nabire, Supiori and Selayar," said KPU chairman, Husni Kamil Manik, Monday (24/8).

KPU is also still awaiting a determination in three areas, namely Surabaya, Samarinda, and Pacitan, because those areas get extra pair of candidates in the extension of the registration. The details of the candidates who qualify are 20 pairs of candidates at the provincial level, 644 pairs at the district level, and 101 pairs at the municipal level.

From 20 pairs of candidates at the provincial level, 19 pairs of candidates supported by political parties and one pair is independent candidate. At the district level, from 644 pairs of candidates who have been assigned, 544 pairs of candidates comes from the support of political parties and 100 pairs of candidates are independent.

At the municipal level, from 101 pairs of candidates that have been set, 81 pairs of candidates are supported by political parties and 20 pairs of candidates are independent.

Campaign period will be conducted after 27th August 2015 until 5th December 2015.
