REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian currency rupiah lost more value against the U.S. dollar trading at the level of 13,866 in the closing session on Thursday from 13,842 per dollar earlier.

Despite the signal from the Fed that it would postpone raising its fund rate, investors still chose to hold dollar as the prospects are better for the U.S. economy than for other advanced economies, analysts said.

"Investors feel safer with dollar," Reny Eka Putri, a financial market analyst from Bank Mandiri said.

Meanwhile there has been no positive sentiment that could drive rupiah to a positive territory , Reny said, adding economic data released this month was not up to market's expectatio0n.

"Indonesian economy grew only 4.67 percent in the second quarter of this year slowing from a rate of 5.03 percent in the same period last year," she pointed out.

In addition, exports and imports did not help, she said.

However, the Fed would keep the dollar from rising to high as too strong dollar would have negative impact on the financial system of that country.
