REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DOHA -- Qatar Charity (QC) announced that it has completed the second phase of a QR 4 million project to provide medicines for the people affected during the Israeli War on Gaza in 2014.
The organization said in a press release Saturday that it has provided medicines and medical supplies to the Palestinian Health Ministry warehouses in order to meet the acute shortages in this aspect.
The statement pointed out that this project comes within the framework of Qatar Charity's emergency intervention program in Gaza, and in order to alleviate the suffering of the health centers, hospitals and primary care centers, due to the acute shortage of medicines, medical supplies and laboratory materials.
Deputy Director of Qatar Charity in Gaza, Eng. Mohammed Abu Haloub, said this project is being implemented under the state of siege imposed on Gaza and experienced by all sectors, including the health sector, which had a negative impact on the quality and volume of services provided to patients.
At least 15 local companies have been contracted for the completion of the second phase of the project of supplying drugs and medical products worth QR 4 million, he added.
The ratio of deficit in the medicines is 45% over the last period while the deficit in other medical supplies has increased, the statement said.
