REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Regional Representative Council (DPD) and the House of Representatives (DPR) RI has held a plenary session, Friday (14/8). One of the issues discussed in the session was about the economic inequality.
The Chairman of DPD, Irman Gusman, said that, Indonesia is still facing problems of economic inequality between regions. It happened not only between regions, but also in the same area.
"It was shown by ratio number that is bigger year to year,” he said, in Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Friday (14/8).
Inequality in economic growth was also evident from national production. More than half of the national production was produced on Java and about 20 percent was produced in Sumatra.
"The eastern of Indonesia only contributed no more than a quarter of the total national production. This is reflecting the equal economic growth has not been achieved,” he added.
