REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- The Indonesian Muslim University (UMI), located in Makassar, South Sulawesi province, will host the 32nd International Conference on Islamic Medicine Faculty Association (FIMA).
"The 32nd FIMA conference will be held on August 14, 2015, in Singapore, with 200 participants from abroad along with hospital leaders and medical academics," Deputy Dean of the Medical Faculty of UMI Dr Nasruddin stated here on Tuesday.
According to Nasruddin, UMI was chosen as the host at the 31st FIMA Council Meeting held in Tanzania.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the 2015 Annual Meeting of FIMA will be held in Makassar. The UMI along with the medical faculties of other universities and Islamic hospitals are entrusted with the task of hosting the event.
Nasruddin remarked that the FIMA meeting includes organizational and scientific meetings.
"The organizational meeting includes the Executive Committee Meeting and the Council Meeting," he revealed.
He explained that the conference includes scientific programs in the fields of medicine, hospital management, medical education and other healthcare professions, as well as health insurance.
The scientific meeting is themed "Healthy Life Style, Disease, Hospital Management and Health Insurance."
The theme has been selected based on the issues being faced by Indonesia and the international community in accordance with the commitment to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and preventing the development of degenerative diseases.
Apart from attending the meeting, the participants will also visit the Islamic Hospital and Islamic Medical Faculty in Makassar; exhibitions; outbound and general lectures; and the Medical Student Program (MSP), which creates a boarding school environment for Muslim medical students.
