REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SINGAPORE – Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) asked the young generation of Indonesia to be more enthusiasts in developing the country. He said that Indonesia can be developed if the younger generations have great motivation to improve science and technology.

"All developed countries have knowledge. They are utilizing technology and spirit. So anything we want to do would be based on a strong passion for advanced, as well as the technology," said JK while giving a speech in front of Indonesian students across the world in Singapore, Sunday (9/8).

According to JK, the progress of a nation not only depends on its natural resources. He said, there are some countries that do not have natural resources but can be developed because the people have great spirit and knowledge, such as Japan and Singapore.

JK also mentioned that the key point of the progress of Singapore is discipline.

"They were discipline. They can easily go to jail if breaking the law,” said Kalla.

After the meeting with the President of Singapore Tony Tan Keng Yam, Kalla said Indonesia was able to learn and imitate the discipline of Singapore society. Indonesia also needs to compare the progress of their nation with other countries such as Singapore.
