UII sends 15 students to three ASEAN countries

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Yogyakarta Indonesian Islamic University (UII) sent their 15 students to three ASEAN countries. The students joined the ASEAN Journey as a part of the Passage to ASEAN event.

"The three countries are Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. It aims to prepare graduates in facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)," said Rector of the UII, Harsoyo, in Yogyakarta, Friday (7/8).

He said that the students are from various faculty, such as faculty of medicines, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, economics, statistics, engineering industry, English education, chemistry, architecture, and international programs.

“We expected that as participants of the Passage of ASEAN, the students will always bring their Islamic value in their daily behavior,” he added.

Coordinator of Passage to ASEAN, Herman Felani, said that the students will also visit four university in those three countries. The four university are King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (Thailand), Asian Institute of Cambodia (Cambodia), FPT University in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), and Duy Tan University, Da Nang City (Vietnam).

“They have prepared a variety of performances, such as traditional fashion show, dances, and traditional children games,” he explained.
