REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Pertamina (Persero) recorded their net profit about 570 million US dollars or Rp 7.6 trillion in first half of 2015. The profit is achieved by Pertamina through improving their operational performance, while the oil and gas industry is flagging.
President Director of Pertamina, Dwi Soetjipto, explained, the fluctuative situation of oil and gas industry requires the efficiency of the company. In the domestic context, the situation is still repressed by the descent of Indonesia oil prices (ICP).
Pertamina recorded that until June 2015, ICP fell to 59.4 US dollars per barrel, while the average ICP in the same period in 2014 amounted up to 106.6 US dollars per barrel. On the other hand, rupiah is also depreciated by more than 10 percent in the same period.
"Many companies in this world are doing breakthrough in order to survive. It starts from the reduction of capex and firing the worker. Thank God, in the midst of these conditions, Pertamina still earns profit, "Dwi said, in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/8).
