REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO -- President Joko Widodo will inaugurate the construction of the planned gas power generator in Paguat, Pohuwato district of Gorontalo province, on August 14.
"President Jokowi is slated to inaugurate the ceremonial groundbreaking of the construction of power generators in several areas, which will be centered in Gorontalo," Governor of Gorontalo Rusli Habibie said here on Monday.
He added that he will visit Jakarta to meet the director of the state electricity company and that he asked the president to hold a teleconference with other regions during his visit to Gorontalo.
According to Habibie, the government is ready to construct the power generator that will have the capacity to produce 100 megawatts of electricity.
Moreover, the construction of the power generator in Paguat is aimed at supporting Indonesia's 35,000-megawatt electricity development program.
"The state electricity company will be responsible for the construction of the generator, while the regional administration prepared licenses, cleared land and completed other requirements," Habibie pointed out.
He expressed hope that the development of the generator can be finished on schedule by the end of 2015.
In addition, an officer of the construction unit of the state electricity company's Sulawesi generator, Agus Djauhari, stated that the project development design of the generator was nearly complete.
However, he admitted that the unit was still facing obstacles such as those related to land clearance.
"We hope the development project is not affected by land clearance issues. We will utilize existing areas for the construction," Djauhari remarked.
