REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister for Economic Sofyan Djalil said the depreciation of rupiah caused by open traffic of Indonesia's foreign exchange. However, Sofyan could not say whether the government plans to tighten foreign exchange traffic or not.

As is known, the rupiah continued to pressure throughout the year. Currently, the exchange rate of Rupiah is almost reaching Rp 13,500 per USD.

"It's one of the risks of climate open foreign exchange which is also widely applied to other countries," the minister said in his office, on Friday, July 31.

With the loosening of foreign exchange traffic, the investor could withdraw funds as they like in Indonesia and speculation to move to countries that were considered more prospective.

It was what currently happening. There were many investors speculated because the central bank of the United States will raise interest rates this year.

"Market participants are very enthusiastic about uncertainty today. They will do the speculation," he said.
