REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned lender Bank Mandiri saw its profit rising slightly by 3.5 percent to Rp9.9 trillion in the first half of 2015 from Rp9.6 trillion in the same period last year.
"We thank God that amidst tight global economic pressure, we continue to show good performance," Bank Mandiri President Director Budi G Sadikin said here on Thursday.
The profit was driven by credits which increased by 15.8 percent to Rp106.5 trillion from Rp91.9 trillion, he said.
He said the amount of credits channeled to the construction sector reached Rp20.8 trillion at the end of June 2015, up by 18 percent compared to June 2014.
The amount of credits extended to the trade, restaurant and hotel sector grew by 10.3 percent to Rp92.3 trillion from Rp83.6 trillion, he said.
"The distribution of credits to the sectors is part of our efforts to encourage the economy to grow at a faster pace," he said.
To better encourage the national economy, he said the publicly listed bank also paid great attention to the micro small and medium businesses.
The amount of credits extended to the sector increased to Rp74.4 trillion in the second quarter of 2015 from Rp65.9 trillion in the corresponding period last year, he said.
