Ministry says 'preacher for TKW' needs more studies

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director General of Islamic Community Guidance (Bimas) of Religious Affairs Ministry, Machasin assessed that the preacher’s delivery into the pockets of migrant workers (TKI) required a lot of consideration. He suggested another way to build religious of citizens in abroad, for example through Skype.

Machasin continued, in addition to the amount of costs incurred, women migrant workers (TKW) were not every day have the time to follow the teachings. They were usually only having vacation once a week. Therefore, it was not effective if the preachers delivered directly to there, while the time to meet with migrant workers was not a lot.

Instead of coming directly abroad, the information technology could be used. Machasin pointed out there were preacher in Banyuwangi were proselytizing via Skype. He opened the question and answers of religiously forum every Friday or Saturday night.

According to him, the religious guidance with this method was more easily and effectively. On the vacation, TKW will get spiritual guidance. Machasin said, the preacher opened the questions and answers for migrant workers in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

He also mentioned all this time there was no preacher’s delivery with government funding or religious guidance before the departure of the government. "Unless, the institutions which was sending of TKW want to do independent religious guidance. We are going to help," said Machasin.
