REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- Information Center Head of The National Military (TNI) Major General M Fuad Basya urged people to entrust investigation of Tolikara incident to the National Police (Polri). People were asked not to assume it related to that incident.
"For people, please don’t easily provoked, don’t get carried away by the news that is not necessarily true," said Fuad at Police Headquarters, on Wednesday, July 22.
Fuad assessed that the incident was not a religious conflict. However, the incident purely criminal act performed simultaneously with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1436 Hijri on Friday, July 17.
According to Fuad, if the incident was an inter-religious conflict, it will be many human victims. In addition, Fuad admitted in that such incident was certainly there were parties who wanted conflict. "People who do not like Indonesia became great," said Fuad.
Therefore, he continued, TNI asked Muslims as the majority community to be mature facing these problems. The maturity needed to calm the atmosphere.
