REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TBILISI -- Georgia on Wednesday welcomed Iran nuclear deal, claiming it is "an important step towards international peace and stability," said the country's foreign ministry in a statement.

"Georgia expresses its satisfaction with the fact that the durable and active diplomatic process led sides to reach a consensus and through dialogue agree on the plan to resolve complex issues related to the Iran's nuclear program," said the ministry.

The achieved deal over the Iran's nuclear program represents an important step towards international peace and stability, said the ministry, while commending the involved parties in the negotiations for their immense efforts and saying normalization of relations between Iran and Western countries will create new economic opportunities for the countries both in the region and in the entire world.

A historical nuclear deal was reached Tuesday between Iran and six countries -- China, Britain, France, Russia, the United States and Germany, after marathon tough negotiations. Under the deal, sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations will be lifted in return for Iran to accept long- term cuts to its nuclear program.
