REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The price of beef in the capital market was still high, namely through the price of Rp 120 thousand per kilogram. Following up on this, the Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman also have checked the price to Mayestik market in South Jakarta, on Sunday, July 12.
"I’m shock, the price is Rp 120 thousand per kilo, whereas the price of beef, especially in Jakarta should be Rp 90 thousand," he said after inaugurating the second echelon officials on Monday, July 13.
The reason, he said, the price of carcasses in the feedlot cattle only around Rp 36-38 thousand per kilo. Thus, maximally the beef’s price to the market was around Rp 90 thousand.
He saw the cause of the soaring price of beef was similar to the case of onions, namely because of the distribution chain was too long. He ensured that the cause was not at all because of supply. He asserted that the cattle prices which were soaring today, people do not immediately blamed farmers and supply.
Learn from the case of onions, he wanted to seek to cut through the distribution chain of beef through Beef Market Operation (OP) of Bulog. The goal was that the margin of farmers to the market price was not high.
