REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister, Yuddy Chrisnandi assessed that the verdict of the Constitutional Court (MK) that allowed the relatives of the regional heads that still has the power to nominate themselves in the local elections was not an ethical thing.
He considered the incumbent’s position in the government will be able to be used by relatives who also participate in the local elections.
"In my personal opinion, yes it’s unethical if in the political process which now become more democratic and more transparent but the political dynasty is still there," said Yuddy in the Vice President’s office, Jakarta, on Thursday, July 9.
According to Yuddy, it will lead to the democratic process which was unbalanced and unhealthy. Nevertheless, he respected and appreciated MK’s verdict related to the political dynasty.
Furthermore, Yuddy also said the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry will issue a circular letter which was arranging the neutrality of the state civil officials during the local elections.
Meanwhile, in the same place, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Human Rights, Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, declined to comment related to MK’s verdict.
"It was from MK, we’ll see it later, we’ll assess it’s appropriate or not, ethical or not. I'm not in a position to judge now, it is currently circulating so we should see it later, but for comment is not now, "he said.
A cautious stance in giving feedback and even then, he added, was very important in order to not worsen the situation.
