REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Sub Directorate of Information Technology (IT) and the Cybercrime of Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency arrested Ilham, the Indonesian college student which was known conduct the bomb threats against the aircraft of Singapore Airlines flight number SQ-221 on Wednesday (July 1). The threat was known based on information from the Singapore Police.
"He threatened the airlines so there was a delay of three flights," said Special Economic Crime Directorate (Dirtipideksus) of Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Victor Edy Simanjuntak at the Criminal Investigation Agency, on Wednesday, July 8.
Victor explained that the threat which conducted by Ilham via email that there was a bomb in the plane. Ilham requested that Singapore Airline did not make the flight. As a result, there was a delay on three flights because of the checks.
Ilham was an IT student in one of the private university in Indonesia. The threat was done just by him. The threat was sent by Ilham to the flights authorities of Singapore Airline. According to Victor, Ilham could be charged the IT article with a penalty of 10 years in prison.
"We will investigate the motive later in the investigation process,” said Victor.
Previously reported, Ilham was arrested on Tuesday, July 7, at 03.00 pm. The arrest was made at his home in Tangerang. Currently, Ilham being detained at Police Headquarters.
