REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A political observer said if the cabinet has to be reshuffled it should be in October when the new government is precisely one year in power.

Ubedilah Badrun from the University of Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) said if President Joko Widodo wants to reshuffle his cabinet he should use the time before October to look for the right men for the cabinet.

He said he is of the opinion that replacement needs to be considered for ministers in charges of political affairs and security and economy.

"If President Joko Widodo is set to follow Bung Karno's concepts of Tri Sakti and Nawa Cita, he should look for economists whose ideology is in line with the the 1945 Constitution or people's economy," he said.

He suggested a number of economists like Hendri Saparini, Refrizon Baswir and Rizal Ramli, saying "but that could draw negative sentiment from the United States."

He also suggested that the president invites economists of different ideologies and hold discussion with them and see who would be the right men on the right place.

"The meeting will serve like fit and proper test in a serious discussion," he added.

He warned the president to consider political factor in picking a candidate to prevent negative sentiment against the government.

Negative sentiment could spread and it would be dangerous for the government stability, he said.

"The president should not pick a candidate not acceptable to pro government coalition , the Great Indonesia Coalition led by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle," hes aid.

Earlier, Sri Adiningsih, chairwoman of the Presidential Advisory Council said after a meeting with the president said the country's economic growth had to be increased.

"We have to rise and maintain our economic stability. That is the gist of the discussion. Specific issues are not for public consumption," she said.

Meanwhile deputy chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Mahyudin said the president should be bothered with the reshuffle issue.

"I do not know where the issue of reshuffle has come from. It mighthave come from one who have the ambition to be ministers," Mahyudin said.
